Message timestamps - LogAppendTime mismatch.

I've been using a test framework which uses kafka-go under the hood. I've noticed that on topics which I have set to LogAppendTime, the timestamp coming back from the kafka-go consumer doesn't match the timestamp shown on the topic (verified in akhq and kafka console consumer). Where is kafka-go getting this timestamp from and is there a way I can get it to give me the actual LogAppendTime of the message?
